The Tax and Succession Planning Team

As Legal Secretary/Paralegal, you will work alongside Partner Sally Smith and several other fee earning and support colleagues at our Ludlow office. Our Tax and Succession Planning team operates primarily from mfg's Kidderminster and Ludlow offices.

Day to day, you'll be successful in this role by...

We're ideally looking for someone with experience in providing secretarial and paralegal support preferably within a legal or professional services environment, with an ability to undertake all aspects of legal administration work.

Key Responsibilities



File opening/closing, time recording of work undertaken, making appointments and taking fee earner instruction.

To assist with first drafts of documentation and letters of advice.

To take and record accurately any message and pass the same on to the appropriate person without delay.

To make appointments and maintain up to date diary entries.

To deal with filing, storage and retrieval of client's papers and files, opening and closing of files, storage of deeds and other papers all in accordance with the firm's policies.

To undertake such work as may be delegated by your Fee Earner or Partner in relation to client matters or any administrative duties that may be required.

To correctly identify and differentiate between DX and Royal Mail post and hand deliveries.

Client care and engagement.

File management and assisting with the progression of client matters.

Typing, photocopying and diary management.

To attend client meetings when required your Fee Earner, and to take accurate records of such meeting for the purposes of preparing attendance notes.

To undertake any duties which may from time to time be allocated.

Requirements

1. A proficient level of literacy and numeracy.

2. Experience of working within a team environment.

3. Preferable but not essential to have experience of working in a legal environment.

4. Experience of working with the following would be advantageous:

- Wills, tax, and wealth preservation matters.

- A basic understanding of trusts; including lifetime settlements and will trusts.

- Experience of drafting testamentary documents.

5. Committed to excellent client service.

6. IT literate with experience of the Microsoft Office suite of applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

7. A high level of attention to detail.

8. Ability to interact effectively with members of staff and clients, both face to face and over the telephone, including an excellent telephone manner.
