General Manager

to lead our leisure club and aquatics programme. What You'll Do

Leadership & Operations

Lead, motivate and develop a passionate team to deliver a first-class experience to our members and guests. Ensure the smooth running of all club operations--including poolside, gym floor, reception and customer service. Oversee all daily operations, ensuring our facilities are safe, clean, and welcoming. Act as a key holder and ensure compliance with all legal, health and safety, safeguarding, and operational standards.

Business & Performance

Manage financial performance daily, weekly, and monthly, taking action where needed to meet and exceed targets. Drive membership growth through innovative sales initiatives and exceptional customer retention strategies. Deliver the company-approved fitness programmes to support member goals and promote personal training. Work closely with marketing to increase visibility and engagement in the community.

Aquatics Programme Management

Manage, grow and develop our swimming lesson and aquatics programmes, ensuring quality, retention and sustainable growth. Oversee the school swimming programme and community engagement initiatives. Use KPIs and data to monitor performance and implement improvements. Lead and mentor swimming coordinators, teachers and pool staff. Maintain pool plant operations and ensure best practice and hygiene standards in line with company SOPs.

About You

You're a natural leader who understands what makes a workplace thrive. You motivate people through your energy, positivity and clear direction. You're as comfortable managing the gym floor as you are developing aquatics programmes, analysing financial performance or supporting your team to grow.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in a leisure environment, ideally with aquatics or fitness leadership. Experience managing teams, driving performance and leading change. Commercially driven with a track record of meeting KPIs and managing P&L accounts. Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills. Ability to manage budgets effectively and make sound business decisions. STA or Swim England Level 2 Certificate in Teaching Swimming. Safeguarding CPD and Enhanced DBS clearance. RLSS National Pool Lifeguard qualification. Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

Experience managing or coordinating aquatics programmes. Swim England Level 3 Swim Coordinator qualification. Business or leisure management qualification. Marketing and social media knowledge.
