Lending Solution Architect

Job Description

Solution Architect to lead the architectural design and integration across the Mersey and Lending programmes, ensuring seamless alignment of data flows and interoperability with adjacent initiatives such as Ascend and UKC LOP. This role is pivotal in shaping the technical strategy, driving application decomposition, and guiding platform decisions across a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Architecture Leadership:
  • Define and finalise the end-to-end architecture across Mersey and Lending programmes.
  • Ensure alignment of critical data flows (e.g., pricing, sanctioning) across systems and platforms.
  • Lead application decomposition and assess technical feasibility of proposed solutions.
  • Strategic Integration:
  • Drive architectural integration with adjacent programmes including Ascend and UKC LOP.
  • Provide architectural input into build vs. buy decisions and long-term platform strategy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Interlock with Lending Technology SLTs including Sandy Mackay, Steve Newall, and Sheetal Sahasrabudhe.
  • Collaborate with CTO teams, vendor partners, and delivery leads to ensure architectural consistency.
  • Governance & Alignment:
  • Align with enterprise-wide Architecture Governance forums and the Data Oversight Horizontal.
  • Ensure compliance with architectural principles, data standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect in large-scale transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of lending platforms, payments architecture, and data integration.
  • Experience with application decomposition, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Ability to assess and influence build vs. buy decisions and vendor platform strategies.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business and technology teams.
  • Familiarity with architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) and governance processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS/Azure Solution Architect, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in regulated financial environments or consulting roles.
