This post is temporary until the end of the academic year in the first instance. The contract will cease at the end of the stated period or at such a time that the child is no longer under the care of Mount Pleasant Primary School.

We are seeking to recruit a positive, passionate, highly motivated and skilled teaching assistant to join our happy, caring teaching team.

The role
To assist and support the teaching, learning and wellbeing of a child who has an Education Health Care Plan. The role will be in Key Stage 1, Year 1 and the desire to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be involved in the full life of the school is essential. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo, class teachers and our wider team to create a supportive, safe and structured environment for the child.

Support inclusion by enabling a child to access learning, socialising and play opportunities.
Undertake learning activities and adapt according to the child's needs.
Develop positive and nurturing relationships.
Work under the direction of teaching staff and SENCo.

Experience:
Supporting learning activities by making a contribution to supporting the teacher in the planning and evaluation and delivery of these.

Supporting children with challenging behaviours.
Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and intervention strategies.
Knowledge and Skills:An understanding of the different ways that children learn effectively.

Excellent knowledge of safeguarding.
Commitment to meeting the needs of all children inclusively.
Flexibility and adaptability.
An awareness of the principles of effective assessment.
Understanding of the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety and SEN.

Is able to use ICT effectively.
