Westcott Architectural Glazing are a high?end glazing specialist based in Portsmouth, that supplies and installs premium composite, timber and aluminium windows and doors across Southern England. We are official UK partners for brands such as VELFAC and Rationel, Solarlux, Internorm and Spitfire entrance doors.
The role will be to assist and develop our accounts department.
Duties to include:
processing invoices, reconciling to supplier statements, preparing payments
processing petty cash receipts
preparing client and supplier valuations, customer invoicing and project progress forecasting
issuing customer statements and credit control follow up
carry out bank reconciliations, nominal balance reconciliations against the trial balance
preparation of management accounts
Entry Requirements
16-18 year olds need a GCSE Maths and English grade 4/Functional Skills Level 2, proof of certificates is required.
19 + year old need a GCSE Maths and English grade 1/2 or Functional Skills Level 1, proof of certificates is required.
Due to the demands of the role, applications with less than the required grades will not be considered. Equally, applications received without stating GCSE maths and English/Functional Skills/equivalent results will not be considered.
If you have a Level 2 Accountancy qualification you will start the Level 3 apprenticeship education. Your role will be to assist and develop our accounts department, we are expanding as a business and have the need to increase our Accounts department.

What does the programme include?
The broad purpose of the occupation is to carry out accounting and finance tasks. These tasks support the creation of items such as financial statements and other data. Their work is carried out under supervision following set procedures for most tasks. Such tasks may include financial data entry, reconciling figures, trial balances, double-entry bookkeeping, handling accounts payable and receivable.
An accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within an organisation.
The accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting accountants with routine duties. These can vary depending on the team structure and size of business. They use digital finance and accounting systems and tools to collate and enter data. An accounts or finance assistant's work would include tasks such as financial and accounting data entry and basic bookkeeping duties. They will also work with sales or purchase ledgers. They will run calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct and may be involved in the recording of cash transactions.
What attendance is required?
The apprenticeship will need you to attend college for one day a week for the length of a full college day, alternating with an online tutor, all of which you need to commit to. Time spent training will come under the working hours per week.
It is a Government requirement for you to spend a minimum of six hours a week off-the-job - off the job can consist of college attendance, coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching.
Your Apprenticeship Liaison Officer will liaise with you to set up mutually convenient times for consultation and assessment visits at your place of work.
Learning and assessment
Apprentices are independently assessed at the end of their programme to achieve the Assistant Accountant apprenticeship at a Pass or Distinction grade.
Synoptic Test (3 hours on a College PC - 40%) Covering: IT Systems/Processes, Standards, Reporting, Analysis, Comms, Problem Solving, Quality and Accountability within a Financial Accounting Environment.
A portfolio and reflective discussion (60%) showing evidence of knowledge, skills and behaviours while within the workplace had met required standards.
Standard Level 2 / Level 3 AAT Exams after each individual unit.
After this apprenticeship
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, and subject to progress as an employee, Westcott Architectural Glazing would offer you a full time job.
