Overview


We are currently looking for a suitable person to join our team, initially on a part-time basis to provide dedicated SEND support for a child in our preschool room. Ideally the candidate will be qualified to at least level 2 with experience of working in a nursery and experience of working with children with special needs. The vacancy is initially for Monday - Friday 8.45am - 12.45pm from the beginning of January until the end of the summer term (end of July) with the possibility of hours being extended to full days (until 3.45pm) . This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in childcare and early childhood education to make a positive impact on children's development and learning. The role involves managing daily activities, supporting children's individual needs, and working collaboratively with colleagues and professionals to deliver high-quality early years education.

Responsibilities



Plan and deliver engaging, age and development appropriate activities that promote learning and development in line with early childhood curriculum standards. Supervise and support children during play, mealtimes, and rest periods to ensure their safety and well-being. Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through effective communication and teamwork. Maintain a clean, organised, and stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration and creativity. Observe, assess, and record children's progress to inform planning and support individual developmental needs. Manage behaviour constructively, promoting social skills, cooperation, and respect among children. Support the organisation of outings or trips in accordance with health and safety policies. Contribute to the ongoing development of the nursery's programmes by sharing ideas and best practices.

Requirements



Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early years setting. Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education frameworks. Strong management and communication skills with the ability to lead activities and liaise effectively with partners. Demonstrated leadership qualities alongside excellent communication skills in English. Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative independently. Passionate about early childhood education with a caring approach towards young learners. Organised with good time management skills to balance planning, documentation, and daily routines. Job Types: Part-time, Temporary, Fixed term contract

Pay: 12.21-12.50 per hour
