At BCSA, we are intentionally
not
a large, corporate swim school. We are a small team founded on the belief that learning to swim should be a personal, nurturing, and joyful experience for every child. We are seeking like-minded, self-employed teachers to join our team on a contract basis.
Duties
Conduct swimming lessons for individuals and groups across various age ranges and skill levels in line with the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework and BCSA scheme of work.
Deliver lesson plans tailored to each swimmer's needs and progress
Demonstrate proper swimming techniques and water safety practices effectively
Monitor participants during lessons to ensure safety at all times
Provide constructive feedback to help learners improve their skills and confidence in the water
Maintain a clean and organised pool area, adhering to health and safety regulations
Uphold professional standards of behaviour, punctuality, and communication with clients and team members
Must hold one of the following qualifications in teaching aquatics (or equivalent):
Swim England Level 2 in Teaching Swimming (or formerly ASA Level 2 in Teaching Aquatics)
STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming
Level 1 Teachers Welcome: We will happily consider passionate Level 1 teachers who demonstrate the required team ethos and are eager and committed to achieving their Level 2 qualification.
Proven experience in teaching children, ideally in swimming or related aquatic disciplines.
A genuine passion for teaching, dedicated to promoting water safety awareness and fostering a lifelong love for the water
Possession of a recognised water safety qualification is desirable but not essential. This could include the NPLQ, STA Safety Award for Teachers, NRASTAC, or NRASTAC Light.
Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate learners of all ages and effectively collaborate with a team
A friendly, patient, collaborative, and professional demeanour suitable for building personal connections with diverse groups of learners and parents
Flexibility and ability to commit to consistent teaching hours, including weekends or evenings as required.
