Little Runners are looking for hard working, passionate and qualified individuals to start working in September 2025 at our "Outstanding" After School & Holiday Club.
Working hours:
16.25 per week, 2.45-6.00pm, term time only. There is an opportunity to work during holiday clubs doing shifts 8am-4pm and 10am-6pm. These are not guaranteed but can be agreed in advance prior to the holiday period.
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality care and engaging play opportunities for children aged 3-5 in a safe, stimulating after-school environment. This role requires a qualified and experienced childcare practitioner with a nurturing approach, strong safeguarding awareness, and the ability to support young children's learning and development through play.
To support the manager and company to ensure compliance with regulators whilst being part of a professional team.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and care for children aged 3-5 in a safe and supportive environment after school hours
To act as a key person to safeguard and develop the learning experiences of children and communicate this with parents.Plan and deliver age-appropriate play-based activities that support development and well-being
Plan, prepare and implement play programs that develop learning and social skills in line with Ofsted requirements, ensuring quality childcare.
Set up and tidy away activities and equipment before and after sessions
Support children with toileting, hygiene, and mealtimes/snack routines
Maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff
Ensure all safeguarding, health & safety, and hygiene standards are followed
Record observations and support children's individual development needs
Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to team planning
Work constructively and professionally with colleagues, ensuring clear and open communication with the staff team, as well as develop a relationship with parents.
Requirements:Essential:
Full and relevant
Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years Education
Minimum of
1 year's experience
working with nursery or early years children
Knowledge of the
EYFS framework
and child development principles
Enhanced DBS check
(or willingness to undergo one)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
Desirable:
Paediatric First Aid Certificate
Food Hygiene or Basic Health & Safety training
Experience in an after-school or wraparound care setting
Personal Attributes:
Kind, patient, and enthusiastic approach
Able to work independently and as part of a small team
Creative and resourceful in planning engaging activities
Reliable, punctual, and professional
