About this opportunity





We are seeking to recruit an energetic and highly motivated individual, with great customer service skills, for 22 hours a week post to join the team at Alston Tourist Information Centre and Library (Local Link).

Alston Local Links operate differing Summer and Winter opening hours and the post will involve working every Monday, Friday and Saturday (9-5) during the summer and then Monday, Friday and Saturday (9am-3pm or 10am-2.30pm) plus one additional day (to be decided) to make the hours up to 22 per week. Summer opening hours run from Easter to October half term and Winter opening hours to run from the end of October to the beginning of Easter.



The role is extremely varied and requires individuals to:
Be the first point of contact for customers. Provide information and deal effectively with customer enquiries, including help with IT enquiries - face to face, over the phone, written and digital. Carry out general library duties, help with the security of buildings and basic health and safety tasks. Support a wide range of events and activities for all ages. Work as part of a team with the Customers Services staff at Alston Local link and supporting the Tourist Information Centre function there alongside the library.
