Job summary
Ofgem is Great Britain's independent energy regulator. Our primary responsibility is to protect energy consumers, especially the most vulnerable, while at the same time working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a clean, more affordable and secure net-zero energy system at the lowest cost to consumers, and drive economic growth.
This role is based within our Enforcement & Emerging Issues (E&EI) Directorate. E&EI covers a range of core regulatory areas including market entry, oversight of industry codes, enforcement, cross cutting strategic change projects and promotion and protection of integrity and transparency in the wholesale gas and electricity markets. The Directorate comprises three portfolios: Industry Rules, Enforcement and Wholesale Market Oversight & International.
This role will be within the Industry Rules portfolio, working in Ofgem's Licensing team. This is a challenging area: it is a high-profile and evolving area of work, responsible for granting, modifying and revoking licences to regulated parties. We have seen increasing volumes and complexity in the applications we are receiving meaning the team requires additional support. You will work predominantly on licence applications with opportunities to build expertise across different licencable activity areas from generation and retail to networks. The role requires effective collaboration with your peers, policy teams and Directorates across Ofgem to manage interdependencies and identify risk, emerging policy issues or complex cases. The work will be varied and will involve regular engagement with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
