We are looking for a well organised individual to join the Licensing Team. You will be welcomed into a friendly, small but busy and motivated team helping to support the Council with the administration, enforcement and development of policy primarily associated with the licensing of taxis and residential/ holiday caravan sites.
Experience of conducting inspections, investigations and enforcement work in relation to licensing is highly desirable as is preparing and presenting committee reports, although training will be provided.
The position of Licensing Technician plays an important part in helping to ensure the Council fulfils its various statutory functions in respect of a number of different licensing regimes. You will also provide support and technical assistance to other members of the team.
Working closely with the Council's partners, elected members and communities, you will oversee and co-ordinate the development and subsequent implementation of various licensing policies. Through this we raise safety and conduct standards which directly has a positive effect on those living, working or visiting the Chichester district.
You will have:
A good level of education
Previous experience of working in law enforcement and ideally Local Authority licensing functions, particularly taxi and/or caravan site licensing
Experience of working with administrative procedures and IT systems
Understanding of Local Authority decision making processes
Confidence in communication, with strong skills, both written and verbal
The ability to manage a busy but varied workload
The post is offered on a full-time basis. You will need to be able to work under your own initiative and on occasion out of office hours. The Council's ethos of flexible working is fully supported.
