Summary
We are looking for a quantitatively minded self-starter who is keen to learn the particulars of a subject and apply them successfully to add value to the business.
The successful applicant will work as part of a small but growing analytical team and will be an effective communicator who can explain complex mathematical concepts to various departments within the business.
Responsibilities
Analyse life insurance policies, optimise the future premium payments and calculate policy net present values for investors.
Generate policy and portfolio valuation reports using our proprietary software, Cambridge Life Analytics, and communicate the results to the other stakeholders, where applicable.
Value the monthly book of policies and complete reporting on fund performance.
Calculate the monthly reserve amounts for future premiums, expenses and fund redemptions.
Learn about and follow trends about the US life insurance and life settlement markets and provide quantitative and qualitative research for internal investigations.
Assist with creating financial models for various projects, for example, for optimising premiums on carrier specific secondary guarantees.
Conduct and provide peer review of other analytical work, including financial models.
Effectively communicate complex concepts to all members of the organisation when required.
Requirements
Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree in an actuarial subject.
Effective communication and ability to see the bigger picture.
Preferred skills, qualifications and experience:
Programming experience in languages such as VBA, C, C++, HTML or PHP.
Two years' experience working with life insurance products.
Ability to build complex financial models in Excel.
Knowledge and some working experience of life settlements and investment funds.
A professional qualification, or some examinations passed, in quantitative and financial subjects; for example, the CS, CM and/or CB series with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or the CFA accreditation.
