Do you love animals, enjoy working outdoors, and want to make a genuine difference in people's lives? Canterbury Oast Trust is looking for a passionate
Life Skills Tutor
to join our vibrant Life Skills team, delivering hands-on, person-centred education to adults with learning disabilities - right on the farm!
At our working farm in the heart of Kent, no two days are the same. You'll help our students grow in confidence, independence, and skills through meaningful farm-based activities: from mucking out the pigs and grooming the goats, to tractor driving and producing items for sale to the public. It's learning by doing - and you'll be right at the heart of it.
What you'll do:
Design and deliver engaging farm-based sessions tailored to individual learning needs and aspirations
Support students to develop practical skills through working with a variety of farm animals and equipment
Evaluate progress, provide personalised feedback, and maintain clear, accurate records
Work closely with home managers, support staff, families and external professionals to deliver person-centred outcomes
Promote independence, well-being, and achievement in every session
What you'll bring:
Experience working with adults with learning disabilities
Confidence around farm animals, both large and small
Great communication and organisational skills
Patience, creativity, resilience - and a good sense of humour!
A willingness to complete (or already hold) a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Desirable (but not essential):
Relevant teaching, training or educational experience
Familiarity with planning and evaluating lesson plans
Knowledge of training curricula or alternative learning methods
Why work with us?
A role that's active, rewarding, and full of purpose
Opportunities to make a real impact every single day
Fantastic training and development, including First Aid and Care Certificate
Free entry to the Rare Breeds Centre for you and your family
Access to a Healthcare Cash Plan and pension scheme after probation
A supportive and passionate team that values your input
Additional Info:
You must have a full manual driving licence (tractor training provided!)
There may be some lone working and occasional weekend or evening events
You'll need to pass an enhanced DBS check and provide two satisfactory references
If you're looking for a role that combines education, care, and the great outdoors - all while making a positive impact on lives - we'd love to hear from you. Come and be part of something meaningful at Canterbury Oast Trust.
