Lighting Engineer
to join our Lighting & Energy Solutions team based in our Leeds office.
You will be joining a global network of lighting specialists and will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of Local Government and Strategic Road Network projects delivering a variety of design services.

A little more about your role...
You can expect to work on a diverse range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organisations and will become part of a respected and ambitious company supported with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
No two days will be the same however during a typical week you will be required to support with:
Engagement with colleagues within the Lighting and Energy Solutions team, wider multi-disciplinary design delivery teams, stakeholders, manufacturers, contractors and clients;
Production of external lighting design layouts, engineering detail drawings and support documentation in accordance with WSPs Quality Assurance and client requirements;
Preparation of lighting classification selection assessments and Lighting Reality calculations;
Support with the development of technical notes, optioneering reports and specifications;
Completion of non-intrusive site visits to support the development of lighting assessments and site clearance drawings;
Support with the development of project proposals;
Contribute within project meetings and reviews to provide input with regards your project responsibilities;
Representing WSP within the lighting industry, fostering industry relationships and driving business development.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
Experience in working within the Local Government and / or Strategic Road Network sectors being able to prioritise and be flexible in your approach;
Competency and experience in external lighting design from conception through to issue for construction;
A strong understanding and knowledge of external lighting products, design standards, guidance, legislation and regulations;
Have a good general awareness and understanding of electrical design principles, central management systems and lighting maintenance operations;
The ability to analyse / evaluate Clients briefs and offer guidance and tailored support;
You have or are seeking, registration with the Engineering Council and active membership with a professional institution;
The ability to work independently, and as part of a team, having excellent communication and organisational skills and can support the development of junior members of the design team;
AutoCAD proficiency with a good level of IT skills.
