Working Hours/Pattern:
40hrs per week, including evenings and weekends. Additional hours may be required determined by the need of the business. The post holder can take time off in lieu with authorisation from line manager.

About this role:
The post holder will work primarily on productions and events within the Main House in a Lighting
No.1 capacity, including the operation of the lighting and AV for performances, but with work on
performances and events in the Studio and Other Spaces, in a Lighting, Sound or Stage capacity as required. As a member of the Technical Department, the post holder will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of, setting up and a variety of operational duties in respect of the productions and events staged by the theatre and external companies, as well as the routine maintenance of the facility, as directed by the Head of Lighting and Technical Manager.
Operating the lighting board for all performances, ensuring the look of the show is maintained after the lighting designer leaves, post press night and flagging any issues to the Head of Lighting in a timely manner.
Programme lighting for daytime events.
Programme QLab Video for Performances.
To assist the Head of Lighting and freelance technicians installing the lighting rig for productions. Focusing and lighting shows as directed by the Lighting Designer to achieve the requirements of each production.
Removing stage lighting, re-focusing lights and setting practices on changeover days.
PAT testing and regular maintenance of all lighting equipment; maintenance of
communications and cue lights as required.
To create and encourage a supportive and positive backstage environment for the cast and crew.
To be an active member of the team, working to support and assist staff in all other departments and providing support and assistance as needed.
To represent the company with diplomacy, discretion and courtesy at all times, safeguarding all confidential information.
To comply with all company policies and undertake any other reasonable duties as required by your line manager or senior management.
With other members of the Technical Department, set up lighting, sound and AV equipment as needed.
Assist in the creation, buying, hiring and making of electrical and lighting effects, props & set pieces.
Assist in the preparation & maintain accurate plots and records detailing all aspects of performance related equipment.
Maintain and oversee the proper functioning of lighting and related equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to lighting and related equipment.
Ensure that electrically operated effects are set up and operated during performances.
To promote and safeguard the welfare of persons for whom you are responsible for and come into contact with.
Set up and operate lighting, sound and AV for studio productions and hires
To ensure full compliance with all statutory regulations and health and safety requirements, communicating concerns to the line manager.
To attend training as required.
Support and oversee external technicians and users of the performance, meeting and event spaces
Support and assist with Sound, Stage, Flying and Rigging if required.
In consultation with Head of Lighting and Technical Manager
To hire / purchase specialist equipment as needed
To identify key staff and provide training on equipment and processes as required.
To ensure staff & freelancers have adequate knowledge of productions, theatre use and equipment for all events
To ensure adequate event and technical support is in place when absent
To provide first-line maintenance support for all relevant technical equipment, machines, fixtures and fittings
To ensure all equipment is stored safely and is accessible to others when absent
To liaise with IT staff over software requirements and system support
Other Duties
Attend and contribute to staff and departmental meetings

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong, proven experience working in Live Theatre, ideally in a producing house or equivalent.
Good Knowledge of ETC Lighting Control Systems and Infrastructure
Proficient programming of ETC EOS Family Lighting Consoles
Proficient programming of QLAB for Video
Good knowledge of current lighting technology
Good knowledge of AV and projection for use in a theatre environment
Good rigging, focusing and lantern maintenance skills
Ability to comfortably work at height using a variety of access equipment including ladders and tallescopes
Ability to demonstrate initiative and adaptability
Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Proficient user of Microsoft Office.
Strong, proven experience in sound, stage or flying and rigging, and a good working knowledge of the other disciplines.
Good knowledge of Vectorworks and AutoCAD
Ability to solder, install, repair and maintain LED tape & electronics
Knowledge of Green Go Digital Comms & Interspace Cuelights
