Job Description

The Role:

This is a varied and dynamic position working across HIF's literature programmes, combining campaign management, project delivery and community engagement. Key outputs include:

Working closely with the Programming Associate to deliver two flagship literature programmes across the year; the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival and Berwins Salon North Supporting the administration and marketing of the prestigious Theakston Crime Awards Co-ordinating the administration and delivery of HIF+ literature outreach projects
Key Responsibilities:

Festivals and Events:

Develop and shape the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival and Berwins Salon North to ensure artistic and financial success, collaborating with the artistic team to deliver ambitious creative programming

Oversee planning, programming and operational event management ensuring smooth artistic, financial and administrative delivery

Produce high quality event documentation, including operational schedules and ensure all artist riders and technical requirements are met

Be the primary point of contact between our Artistic Associates, authors and publishers maintaining positive relationships and developing innovative opportunities

Work with the Head of Ops to establish overall budgets and deliver against financial targets ensuring compliance of HIF's financial controls

Be responsible for achieving ticket and income targets through effective partnership development, audience growth and media engagement

Manage existing publisher and sponsor relationships, identifying and securing new sponsorship opportunities in line with the fundraising strategy, and ensuring thorough account management and evaluation

Deliver against strategic objectives in relation to major stakeholders and partners, working closely with the wider team to support launches and festival hospitality, ensuring maximum artist involvement

To act as first point of contact for our venues and suppliers year-round including negotiating rates and contracts

Develop and support the delivery of the marketing and communications for literature events working collaboratively with suppliers including design and PR

Provide engaging, accurate copy for promotional materials including print, web updates, and e-newsletters

Oversee box office arrangements, including Spektrix and website listings, monitoring sales targets and audience development plans.

Brief and supervise staff and volunteers during events, ensuring professional, efficient delivery

Awards:

Contribute to and implement the overall vision for the awards, raising profile and expanding audience reach

Develop and manage timelines, budgets, and KPIs for campaign phases (longlist, shortlist, voting, awards night)

Co-ordinate and deliver the awards campaign to ensure effective promotion, stakeholder engagement, audience participation and brand visibility for the awards and sponsors

Support the submissions process and administration of the judging process including liaison with publishers and authors

Liaise with key awards partners including media, retail and libraries nationwide to support partnership activation

Co-ordinate PR, marketing and digital activity to ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment

Manage design and production of marketing collateral to extend digital reach, drive engagement and develop audiences

Support the delivery of the Awards evening including logistics, event decks and event co-ordination

Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, media coverage and audience engagement

HIF+:

Manage the programming and administration of literature outreach activities eg Reader in Residence, Big Read & Crime on Tour

Support the creation and delivery of inclusive literature and reading programmes that support literacy, wellbeing and social inclusion

Manage content and scheduling for growth of 'You're Booked' community through audience development and sponsorship opportunities

Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, schools and cultural partners

Develop new collaborations to extend HIF's reach into underserved communities and places

Measure and evaluate the social impact of outreach initiatives, gathering participant feedback and data

Contribute to funding applications and reports for trusts, foundations and public bodies including case studies, testimonials and content showcasing project outcomes

General Administration

Collaborate with the CE to determine a programme of established and new events to raise the profile of HIF in line with resources

Keep abreast of new opportunities and sector trends

Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements, including health and safety, safeguarding and equal opportunities

Support HIF's commitments to accessibility, sustainability, diversity and inclusion within the live events environment

Attend external meetings, representing HIF where appropriate including across the region and the UK

Play an active part in the on-site events management throughout the Festival calendar

Share responsibility for the wellbeing and management of the organisation

Any other duties as required by the CE

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 25,000.00-28,000.00 per year
