Litigation Paralegal
Location: Greenwich Borough, South East London
Salary: 25 per hour
Hours: 20-60 Hours per month, Flexible Timings, part-time
Commute: Must be within a 60-minute commute to Plumstead (Greenwich).
We are seeking an experienced paralegal to join our in-house legal team on a part-time basis. This position will involve working closely with a gentleman currently on remand for white-collar crime, assisting in both criminal and civil proceedings spanning multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities include:
A successful candidate will be required to undertake the following non-exhaustive list of tasks:
Conducting legal research and analysis to support ongoing cases.
Assisting in the preparation of legal documents, including briefs, letters, and reports.
Organising and maintaining case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
Communicating effectively with the client, legal team, and relevant stakeholders.
Supporting the preparation of evidence and materials.
Creating legal bundles for court proceedings.
Tracking case progress and deadlines to ensure timely court submissions.
Printing and posting legal documents to clients and other stakeholders.
Meeting the gentleman in-person weekly to provide updates, gather information, and discuss case developments.
Working closely with another paralegal to ensure all aspects of matters are managed efficiently.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
Strong understanding of criminal and civil law principles.
Proven ability to prepare and manage legal bundles.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
High level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
Strong IT skills.
Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Availability to work fixed hours as agreed upon.
Must live within a 60-minute commute to Greenwich Borough.
Desirable:
Experience using legal AI tools and e-discovery platforms, such as Clio and Everlaw.
At least one year of experience as a paralegal in-house or in private practice, ideally in litigation.
Can commit themselves to this role for at least one year.
Completed LPC/SQE and/or familiar with the practicalities of the law rather than just the academic aspects.
