London, United Kingdom

Job Description

Are you looking for an intellectually challenging role, working at the cutting edge of the legal profession? Do you want to develop client relationships whilst continuing to hone your legal expertise? Would you like a role that offers genuine flexibility to allow you to meet your personal and work commitments? If so, an opportunity has arisen in our Global London Property Casualty team that may be for you.

We are a friendly and supportive team and we work across diverse service lines: Property, Construction, Energy, Engineering, Product Liability & Recall, International Casualty, Marine, and Aviation.

Our team is involved in complex, high value work and continues to play a leading role in Business Interruption claims relating to the Covid 19 pandemic.

We are now seeking to grow our team with a new colleague assisting both on business interruption claims and also property damage claims more generally.

We are very proud of our prestigious client base, which includes some of the world\'s biggest re/insurers, who entrust us with their most sensitive and complex matters. If you are results driven and will help us search for solutions for our clients, we can offer you the opportunity to work on high-profile matters along with having your own case load.

We enjoy the backing of a truly international firm with over 2,500 colleagues across 10 countries and with international associations further bolstering our capabilities. We have particularly strong connections with the Latin American and Spanish markets, as well as an increasing number of matters from China, France and Israel.

Role Responsibility

We are searching for a talented colleague with experience in policy coverage, property (first and third party losses, including subrogated recoveries), public and products liability (ideally with a focus on construction related claims) and a strong academic background, ideally in the 2 - 5 PQE range.

Experience in policy coverage will be vital and you must be capable of analysing and applying legal principles to a complex factual scenario, with a view to achieving a commercial resolution for our clients.

To maintain our ethos, we are looking for team oriented and collegiate colleagues with a willingness to work as part of a team on larger matters, but also someone who can demonstrate self-sufficiency and initiative when working independently. You will have the opportunity to deal with clients on day to day issues, as well as assisting with development of business.

  • A Solicitor/Associate of between 2-5 PQE.
  • Good technical legal skills are essential for the role.
  • Ability to manage a litigation caseload and/or supporting Partners and colleagues on larger complex cases.

  • Ability to analyse and apply legal principles and facts to derive technically sound, commercial strategies for complex cases.
  • Show sound judgment in decision making, focused on client and case needs.
  • Work with appropriate levels of supervision, recognising matters for escalation.
  • Draft and review correspondence, reports and litigation documents.
  • Demonstrate and develop a competent, high quality level of technical expertise.
  • Maintain caseload in good organisational shape and in accordance with client quality and service level agreements.

  • Continually monitor and take responsibility for own performance.
  • Demonstrate proactive financial management; attention to billing regimes, credit control, debt collection, accounting procedures and client service level agreements.
  • Record time accurately and appropriately.
  • Engage with and maintain existing client relationships together with a willingness to be proactive in seeking out client development opportunities.
  • Understand and comply with client service level agreements.
  • Develop an understanding of the client\'s and our business and how the two fit together.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills.
