We are looking for Refuse Loaders to join our depot in Skipton.
The safe and efficient collection of refuse and recycling is a critical function for the Council. Collection crews led by the driver are among the most valued members of the Council workforce.
The role:
Working in small crews you will be collecting residual, garden waste, as well as recyclable materials from domestic and commercial properties across the dedicated area of the county. You will have to be able to move bags, wheelie bins and recycling bins, using a lifting mechanism to tip the waste into the lorry. Health and safety are also critical to ensure your team and residents are safe, including supporting your driver to help navigate the streets of North Yorkshire safely.
This role is hugely important, as you will be on the front line of a key service in Skipton. As required, you need to be prepared to start early, and weekend working may also be required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Collection and emptying of receptacles
Removing spillages
Checking of service lists and reporting instances outside of acceptable presentation
To support the driver in undertaking risk assessments
Assisting the driver, ensuring manoeuvres are completed safely and mitigate the risk to pedestrians and other road users
Responsible for the health and safety of self and colleagues, ensuring that all safe working practices are followed
