Local Area Network Manager - WMF2111i

------------------------------------------

Job description

INTERNAL ONLY

Location: Barrow

Contract Type: Permanent

About this opportunity

Westmorland and Furness Council, Highways and Delivery service, are looking for an experienced, motivated, and friendly individual to join us as Local Area Network Manager. We are excited to offer this permanent opportunity, and this is an excellent career step for candidates with a wide experience in highways, transportation and construction backgrounds, looking to join a large and thriving organisation.

In this role, you will assist and support the leadership and management responsibility for a team of Highway Engineering staff covering a wide range of statutory highway functions and asset improvement. You will lead the Furness local area Highways team; preparing, designing and processing highway improvement and maintenance projects, as well as undertaking inventory collection. This includes carrying out activities relating to design, specification, and data collection and input.

Additionally, the successful candidate will support the Lead Network Manager and wider Highways Delivery Management Team to lead and manage the service to ensure all key programmes of work and activity within the relevant service area are delivered on time, on budget and to the agreed standard. And that all activities are met in line with operational plans, legislation and best practice guidance.

Who we are looking for...

We are looking for a strong communicator, as you will provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues in respect of specifications and standards for highways design and maintenance. You will also provide advice on the application of legislation, regulation, policy and principles to both internal and external customers of the Council. Additionally, you will have a leading role in dealing with local members within the locality area in relation to highways matters.

This role is a great opportunity for candidates who have significant experience of highway, transportation, or construction design, as well as a sound knowledge of local government and dealing with customers. Awareness of construction contracts, highway maintenance activities and national design standards is also essential. You will be able to work under pressure, and be an effective team leader, driving innovation and motivation throughout the team and service.

Experience of adverse weather and out of hours activities is desirable, as this role will support adverse weather activities to given timescales, costs and specifications, but full training and support will be given.

If you're looking for your next challenge, and you have a passion for our service, then apply today!
