Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced
Locum Consultant
with expertise in
Acute, General, Respiratory, Geriatric, and Endocrinology Medicine
to join our dynamic and forward-thinking medical team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care across multiple specialties, support junior staff development, and help deliver service improvements.
You will be expected to provide consultant-level clinical care, leadership, and oversight within the general medical take, specialist outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary ward rounds.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consultant-led care to inpatients and outpatients in the designated specialties.
Participate in the acute medical on-call rota, including the medical take.
Lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) ward rounds and case discussions.
Provide specialty-specific outpatient clinics (e.g., respiratory, endocrinology).
Collaborate with colleagues across specialties to ensure continuity of care.
Supervise junior doctors and participate in their training and development.
Contribute to clinical governance, audits, service development, and patient safety initiatives.
Participate in appraisal and revalidation processes as required.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
Essential:
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and/or any of the listed specialties (or within 6 months of CCT at interview).
MRCP (UK) or equivalent.
Desirable:
Subspecialty accreditation in one or more of the following: Respiratory Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetes.
Experience:
Significant experience in general and acute medicine, ideally at consultant level.
Clinical experience managing complex cases across the relevant specialties.
Experience supervising junior staff and contributing to their educational development.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to lead and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent clinical judgement and decision-making ability.
Knowledge of current NHS structures, quality frameworks, and care standards.
Other Requirements:
Eligible to work in the UK.
Commitment to NHS values and the principles of patient-centered care.
Ability to travel between sites if required.

This post is offered on a locum basis, with potential for extension or permanent appointment depending on service needs.

Pay: 89.70-125.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 - 50 per week
