Prospective candidates for this position should possess the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) or its equivalent and have spent at least five years in accredited training. The appointee will be on the specialist register of the General Medical Council or eligible for inclusion within six months of interview.
Wide experience in trauma and orthopaedics and shoulder & elbow surgery is essential.
It is expected that the new incumbent will complement and support the academic and teaching interests of the department.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team of 3 consultants providing a Shoulder surgery service for both elective and trauma patients.
  • General trauma on call is a requirement of this post (1 in 12 weekdays, 1 in 12 weekends).
  • The job plan will comprise of a balance of operating sessions (trauma and elective) and outpatient clinics (fracture and elective), including virtual fracture clinic
  • Working closely with consultant colleagues and all members of the MDT to provide a safe and quality clinical service for patients
