Job Description

Prospect Law is seeking an experienced UK-qualified litigator to support our growing contentious practice on a locum basis. This role is ideal for a senior disputes lawyer looking for flexibility while working with a Legal 500-ranked, multi-disciplinary practice operating in some of the UK's most dynamic sectors, including renewable energy, nuclear, ESG and risk management.

You will work closely with senior members of the firm on a variety of commercial, contentious matters, and you will be provided with full access to the firm's legal, technical and administrative infrastructure.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will be required to:

Manage a caseload of commercial, civil, and/or property litigation matters from instruction to resolution (including trial preparation). Support the firm's existing contentious client base across a range of industries and sectors. Assist with high-value and complex disputes, including contract, shareholder, construction, banking, negligence, and landlord & tenant matters. Conduct advocacy where appropriate (interlocutory applications, case/cost management hearings etc.). Provide clear, commercially-focused advice to clients. Contribute to the development and delivery of the firm's dispute resolution offering. Work collaboratively with team members and mentor junior colleagues as required.
This is a locum role and offers a high degree of flexibility. It would suit individuals looking for a more balanced working arrangement whilst maintaining involvement in sophisticated and meaningful litigation work.

You will also have access to the wider team of lawyers and non-lawyers across our MDP, including senior-level experts in energy, ESG and regulatory issues.

Requirements

Minimum 8+ years PQE in commercial litigation. Strong experience managing complex and high-value disputes. Advocacy experience is desirable but not essential. An ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team. Strong client-handling skills and a commercially minded approach to dispute resolution.
Business development experience or evidence of building strong client relationships is an advantage, though not required for this locum role.
