Key Requirements
Full GMC registration
with a licence to practise.
Section 12(2) approval
under the Mental Health Act (essential).
Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych)
or equivalent.
Prior NHS experience in Psychiatry desirable.
Excellent communication and team-working skills.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Provide high-quality psychiatric care to patients within the assigned service.
Participate in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with mental health disorders.
Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Participate in Mental Health Act assessments and related legal responsibilities (for Section 12 approved doctors).
Contribute to ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and emergency assessments as required.
Take part in on-call rota (if applicable).
Provide clinical leadership and supervision for junior doctors, where required.
Maintain accurate and timely medical records in line with Trust policy.
Participate in audit, teaching, and continuing professional development (CPD).

The Locum Registrar may be placed in one or more of the following subspecialties within Psychiatry:
General Adult Psychiatry
(inpatient / community)
Old Age Psychiatry
Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (CAMHS)
Forensic Psychiatry
Learning Disability Psychiatry
Addiction Psychiatry / Substance Misuse
Liaison Psychiatry
(hospital-based)
Rehabilitation Psychiatry
Perinatal Psychiatry
Neuropsychiatry

Contract type: Locum (full-time)
Hours: 40 hours per week (plus on-calls if required)
Remuneration: Competitive hourly/daily rates (in line with NHS locum pay scales)
Accommodation/travel: May be provided or reimbursed depending on Trust policy.

Pay: 60.00-85.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 - 50 per week
