to join our dynamic multidisciplinary mental health team on a temporary/locum basis. This role involves delivering high-quality psychiatric care under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist across various inpatient or community mental health services.
The post is suitable for doctors with previous UK psychiatry experience who are working at middle-grade (registrar) level. Flexible rota patterns and subspecialty opportunities are available, depending on the NHS Trust and current service demand.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients.
Manage a defined caseload of patients in the inpatient unit or community service.
Participate in daily ward rounds, MDT (multidisciplinary team) meetings, and case conferences.
Liaise with patients' families, carers, GPs, and other community services.
Provide support and clinical supervision to junior doctors (e.g., FY2 or CT1-CT3).
Participate in on-call rotas (if required).
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
Contribute to audit, quality improvement, teaching, and continuing professional development.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Essential:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
Full GMC registration with license to practise.
Minimum of 2 years UK experience in psychiatry (ST3 level or above).
Section 12 approval (or working toward it).
Up-to-date compliance (DBS, Occupational Health, mandatory training).
Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
MRCPsych (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists).
Previous experience in chosen subspecialty.
Approved Clinician status (for some higher-level roles).
Experience in teaching or supervising junior doctors.
Familiarity with electronic patient record systems (e.g., RiO, SystmOne, Lorenzo).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Organised, proactive, and able to work independently under supervision.
Working Hours:
Typically Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. On-call duties may apply, including evenings and weekends, depending on rota.
Rate of Pay:
Competitive hourly rate, in line with NHS agency locum framework guidelines. Rates may vary by Trust, urgency, location, and on-call commitment.
