Job Summary
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced
Locum Registrar (Middle Grade Doctor) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
to provide high-quality patient care within an NHS Trust setting. The role includes responsibility for both obstetric and gynaecology services, covering ward work, theatres, labour ward, clinics, and on-call duties as per rota requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe and effective obstetric and gynaecology care under consultant supervision.
Manage patients in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings, including high-risk pregnancies.
Participate in labour ward cover, caesarean sections, gynaecology theatres, and outpatient clinics.
Carry out timely clerking, documentation, and discharge summaries in line with Trust and GMC standards.
Supervise junior doctors and contribute to their training and development.
Participate actively in multi-disciplinary team meetings and patient care planning.
Ensure adherence to NHS safeguarding, infection control, patient safety, and clinical governance standards.
Engage in audit, teaching, and service improvement activities as required by the department.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential:
Full
GMC registration
with licence to practise.
MBBS / equivalent medical degree.
Minimum
2-3 years' experience at ST3+ / Registrar level in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
.
Evidence of completion of
Core Essential Learning (CEL)
as per NHS Trust requirements.
Valid
Advanced Life Support (ALS)
certification.
Intermediate Life Support (ILS)
and/or
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
desirable.
Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO)
or equivalent training is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of CTG interpretation, obstetric emergencies, and operative obstetrics.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
MRCOG (Part 1, 2, or completed qualification).
NHS experience at Registrar level in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Evidence of audit, clinical governance, or teaching.
Other Requirements
Enhanced DBS clearance
(within the last 12 months or subscribed to the Update Service).
Occupational health clearance
and up-to-date immunisations.
Right to work in the UK.
Flexibility to work across a full rota, including nights, weekends, and on-calls.
