Job Summary
The post holder will work as a
Locum SHO
, providing safe and effective patient care across multiple specialties. This role is ideal for doctors with
at least 2 years of NHS experience
, a valid
ALS certification
, and the ability to start immediately. The SHO will work under the supervision of registrars and consultants to deliver high-quality clinical care.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day medical care for inpatients and outpatients in allocated specialty.
Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, theatre sessions (where applicable), and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Undertake acute and emergency duties, including on-call shifts if required.
Support junior colleagues and medical students in clinical learning.
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional patient documentation.
Contribute to audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and families.
Adhere to NHS Trust policies, GMC guidelines, and safeguarding procedures.

Essential Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
Minimum 2 years of NHS experience
Valid
ALS (Advanced Life Support)
certification
Experience in one or more of the listed specialties
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Desirable Requirements
Previous SHO/NHS hospital experience in multiple specialties
Experience in acute care or emergency settings
Audit, teaching, or research experience
