We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Logistics Manager to oversee and optimise our supply chain operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead process improvements, utilise advanced logistics systems, and contribute to the optimisation of our overall logistics strategy. This role is commercially focused as well as being hands on to drive our depot forwards to be revenue generating for storage and distribution. The successful candidate have transport qualifications either as a driver or as a manager.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement effective category management strategies to optimise procurement and inventory levels.
Oversee transportation management systems (TMS) to coordinate freight movements, track shipments, and improve delivery schedules.
Manage warehouse operations using warehouse management systems (WMS) to ensure accurate stock control and efficient picking & packing processes.
Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to streamline shipping & receiving activities.
Utilise ERP systems such as AS400 for order processing, inventory management, and data analysis to support decision-making.
Lead process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency and reducing costs.
Supervise materials handling activities, including forklift operations, ensuring safety compliance and optimal utilisation of resources.
Analyse logistics data to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimise supply chain performance.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all logistics functions.
Skills
Proven experience in logistics management with a strong understanding of supply chain principles.
Proficiency in category management, process improvement methodologies, and data analysis skills.
Extensive knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems such as AS400, and 3PL coordination.
Hands-on experience with shipping & receiving procedures, materials handling, and forklift operation.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent communication skills for liaising with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
Ability to analyse complex data sets to inform strategic decisions and optimise logistics processes.
