The Costello School, situated in Basingstoke, North Hampshire, is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our amazing team of LSAs.

, and said that 'Leaders, teachers and support staff work together as a tight-knit team to meet these pupils' pastoral and academic needs very well. Good relationships between staff and pupils ensure typically calm, respectful behaviour across the school. Pupils enjoy school and feel happy and proud to be here.
The successful candidate will be pastorally minded and have the passion and skills to support students in class and through intervention programmes to become independent learners.
Please note the daily hours outlined include a 35 minute unpaid daily lunch break. The SEND Administrator role is an add-on to a Learning Support Assistant role. Your daily hours' allocation for these 2 roles will be: SEND Administrator duties 8.15am - 12 noon; Learning Support Assistant duties 12.00 noon - 3.25pm.
Example of some of the role's responsibilities - LSA:
To provide support for the curriculum by working in-class with students
Where necessary, to deliver one-to-one or small-group programmes
To support students with extra literacy or numeracy work during registration periods
To monitor and help students work towards their learning targets in the classroom
To support students' individual needs, which may involve reading information, notetaking/ scribing/organising/collecting work and explaining the lesson and homework tasks/exam arrangements/testing
To support the teachers' delivery of the curriculum by knowing how to make work more accessible for students
To communicate concerns and news of progress with the SENDCO, SEND Department and teachers
To attend such courses as will support professional development
Example of some of the role's responsibilities - SEND Administrator:
Support the SENDCo and Deputy SENDCo in completing Passports.
Allocate LSAs and arrange informal and BT assessments according to the student's access arrangements.
Collect centre-based evidence for inspection files.
Collect evidence and feedback from teaching and non-teaching staff for Needs Assessments and Annual Reviews
Plan, lead and review intervention for literacy and numeracy, including intervention for students on a Personalised Curriculum completing sessions on programmes, such as iAchieve and AQA Unit Award.
Arrange baseline SEND Tests
The ideal candidate will have formal qualifications up to GCSE (including minimum Grade C GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths) with sound ICT skills and proven administrative skills. The ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner is essential.
