We're looking for a confident Skills Engagement Officer for the West Midlands and Warwickshire. You'll be the go-to contact on Skills West Midlands- Warwickshire, helping businesses navigate the skills landscape, identify workforce needs, and connect with the right training and support. This role is key to delivering the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), driving collaboration between employers, colleges, universities, and training providers.
You'll need excellent communication skills, ability to build strong relationships, and experience working with employers or in a skills-focused role. If you're passionate about regional growth, understand business challenges, and can turn insight into action, we'd love to hear from you.

The Chamber delivers the LSIP on behalf of the Department for Education (DfE), working across the local skills ecosystem to ensure that employers' voices directly shape the region's future workforce.
In Coventry and Warwickshire, the Chamber partners closely with the Warwickshire Skills Hub and Warwickshire County Council to create joined-up activity that supports both current and future labour market needs. This role will create activity to enable other plans and Strategies such as the Warwickshire Employment and Skills Strategy and Get Warwickshire Working
This partnership-driven approach ensures that local employers can influence curricula, qualifications, and training provision to meet evolving business and economic priorities.

Role and responsibilities:
Act as the amin customer-facing contact for employers engaging through Skills West Midlands-Warwickshire.
Provide tailored advice and guidance to employer seeking training or workforce development solutions.
Support employers to articulate their skills needs, recruitment challenges and training priorities.
Maintain accurate records of all employer interactions within the CRM/LSIP database.
Promote employer participation in focus groups, surveys, roundtables and events linked to LSIP activity.
Build strong relationships with FE colleges, ITP's, universities and other providers across the region.
Help employers understand local and regional training offers, apprenticeships and funding opportunities.
Work with providers to identify skills gaps, emerging demand areas, and potential collaborative responses.
Contribute to case studies and success stories that demonstrate impact and employer provider collaboration.
Manage and respond to employer enquiries via the Skills WMW website and related channels.
Contribute to the website content, FAQ's and updates that simplify the regional skills offer.
Support the production of newsletters, blogs and social media content promoting the LSIP and skills initiative.
Feed employer intelligence into the LSIP delivery team for analysis and reporting.
Assist in producing summaries or reports on employer needs, engagement patterns and sector trends.
Heap measure and report on meaningful engagement metrics and outcomes.
Work closely with the LSIP Project Manager and Chamber colleagues to coordinate regional engagement.
Attend events, sector forums, and provider networks to represent the Chamber & LSIP partnership.
Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships, streamline referral processes and enhance user experience.
Person Specification:
Essential
Degree level or equivalent experience.
Full UK Driving Licence and access to own car/transport.
Experience working with employers, business support or skills development programmes.
Experience engaging with education/training providers.
Experience in customer-facing roles offering guidance or advisory support.
Understanding of the UK skills system, FE/HE provision and employer training needs.
Awareness of apprenticeships, adult skills funding and workforce development initiative.
Familiarity with employer engagement principles and business support ecosystems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational skills ability to manage multiple priorities.
Confidence in presenting information to different audiences.
Ability to interpret and relay complex information clearly.
Proactive, customer focused, and solutions orientated approach.
Competent in MS Office CRM systems and web based platforms.
Professional, approachable and collaborative.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Committed to inclusivity and supporting regional growth.
Desirable
Experience working within a Chamber of Commerce, LSIP, LEP or local authority context.
Experience using CRM systems and managing stakeholder databases.
Knowledge of regional skills priorities in the West Midlands and Warwickshire.
Understanding of LSIP's and Skills England's strategic aims.
Experience in event facilitation stakeholder workshops, or survey coordination.
Marketing or digital content experience.
Enthusiastic advocate for lifelong learning and skills development.
