Job Description

The Band 6 Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist is a key member of the Lung

Cancer Team, providing expert clinical care, support and education to patients

diagnosed with Lung Cancer. This role focuses on delivering high-quality,

personalised patient care. They will also be responsible for coordinating the

complex care needs of lung cancer patients across various stages of the patient's pathway from diagnosis, through treatment and survivorship.



To act as a key worker; delivering evidence based, personalised care through holistic

assessment, care planning and evaluation of care for patients diagnosed with lung

cancer, through treatment and follow up. This might be via a clinic, inpatient or remote

follow up setting.

To identify and support patients who are vulnerable. Enabling them to have a smooth

journey through the lung cancer pathway.

To work at an enhanced level to plan and provide clinical care and psychological

support to patients with a cancer diagnosis who have complex needs.

To provide holistic care for patients at all stages of their cancer pathway, delivering a

high standard of person-centred care, supporting a culture of supported selfmanagement.

To provide specialised advice to patients and their carers in relation to a cancer

diagnosis and its treatment.
