M&E Quantity Surveyor

With continuous growth and new exciting projects on the horizon we are seeking a skilled M&E Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in mechanical and electrical contracting and commercial project delivery. This role offers the opportunity to join a well-established, friendly, experienced and innovation company delivering complex, high-value electrical packages.
Your New Role
You'll be responsible for managing cost, contracts, and commercial reporting across new build, major fit-outs and refurbishment projects with values ranging from 50K to1.5 million. Projects run between 6 and 12 months in duration, and you'll be expected to hit the ground running--managing commercial functions from procurement through to final accounts.
The position predominantly office based, although client and site visits will be part of the role, candidates living within a 40 miles radius of the office (or willing to re-locate) will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all commercial and contractual functions across projects in sectors such as self storage warehousing, general warehousing, education, commercial and industrial, hospitality, ensuring profitability and risk control.
Implement and manage robust commercial procedures, including additional work, contract variations, applications for payment, and monthly cost reporting and cash flow forecasting.
Negotiate and administer subcontract and client contracts (JCT, NEC3/4), manage procurements, payment notices, and final accounts.
Act as primary commercial interface, advising the operations team and senior leaders, preparing notices (EOT, delay, early-warning), and supporting profitable growth.
Oversee subcontractor management, reviewing applications, variations, and final settlements.
Provide financial insights and forecasts, flagging and mitigating potential cost risks or delays.
You'll Need
Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent), with experience in M&E building services highly desirable
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the Electrical or M&E sector delivering projects of 1.5m+.
Strong understanding of contract forms (JCT, NEC3/NEC4), and commercial processes
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reporting) and proficiency with standard MS tools
Excellent numerical, commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills; ability to thrive under pressure
Professional membership (e.g. RICS) advantageous; familiarity with cost planning, lifecycle costing, and value engineering
Self?starter with a proactive, "can?do" attitude, demonstrated through previous contract negotiations and identifying commercial opportunities
Ability to work both independently and within a project team
Ability to travel between the office in Maldon, Essex and sites Greater London and surrounding area.
Finally, if you have any of the following qualifications, we would love to hear from you: HND, BSc, or MSc in Quantity Surveying or MEP Commercial Management.
