You will report to the Directors and liaise with the Principal Software Engineer work primarily onsite at our Heybridge site with occasional offsite work required. You may be required to work at other locations as directed by your manager or the needs of the business.
You have no direct line management responsibilities. You will be required to train, mentor and support colleagues on a day-to-day basis and as directed by your manager.
Duties
Your duties will include the following:
- Undertake all aspects of CNC Machine commissioning - motor, motion control, PC, peripheral and software configuration.
- Configure, commission and test:
o Motor / Amplifiers;
o Motion Control;
o Machine Control Software;
- Work with the production team to identify and remedy machine issues.
- Work with design team to identify and progress CNC design improvements.
- Rigorously perform CNC machines testing and take responsibility to ensure machines leave the factory 100% tested.
- Document processes and train team members to undertake them.
- Become a technical expert in our hardware and software.
- Support the sales team with hardware and software questions.
- Provide technical assistance before and during customer demonstrations.
- Support the sales process by understanding customer business processes and technical requirements and explaining how our software and hardware solutions can transform their business.
- Support customers with hardware and software issues.
- Undertake training of colleagues and customers in our software.
- Design and run training courses for customers.
- Re-create a potential customer's application utilising B&W products only.
- Film the workflow ready for presentation to the customer
- Produce physical samples to the highest standards ready for shipping to the customer
- Create software guides for customers.
- Record training videos of our software / hardware.
- Work with the Design Team to test and trial new tools.
- Work with the Development team to test software and provide thorough feedback.
- Comply with all Company policies, procedures and training requirements.

Person Specification
Essential:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Fastidious attention to detail and well organised.
- Rigorous approach to machine testing.
- Basic programming skills.
- Basic electronics fault finding skills
- Good IT / software knowledge (install and configuration of software)
- Able to coordinate with colleagues to resolve challenges.
- Demonstrated ability for problem solving.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Omron / Delta Tau PMAC motion control systems.
- Track record of commissioning of industrial machinery & software.
- Knowledge of:
o Motor and amplifier configuration;
o EtherCAT;
o Motion control.
- Electronics expertise.
- Software support or testing experience.
- Familiarity with Raspberry Pi.
