Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for two an accessible, responsive highly motivated dynamic nurses with excellent organisational skills to become an active member of the Skin cancer multidisciplinary team working across 3 hospital sites and the community.



You will participate in the provision of high-quality care to new and follow up patients diagnosed with a skin cancer and their families through surgical, oncology and palliative treatments.



You will work alongside members of the nursing and medical team in their clinics as well as managing and developing nurse led clinics yourself.



You will actively participate with all aspects of the multidisciplinary team, adapting the service as required and supporting service development,



You will support the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Macmillan Skin Cancer Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist to ensure the service provided to both patients and team is World Class. This post has many opportunities and is supported by both UHCW NHS Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.



Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.



Internal and external applicants welcomed. Two full time permanent post available. Possible interview date 2nd of July 2025.



This posts will cover various main duties including clinical responsibility and acting as a key worker for skin cancer patients and their families with support.



Monitoring and providing care for those under the specialities of Dermatology, plastic surgery and Oncology.



Participation in providing education to both staff and patients is vital as well as audit and research to improve all's knowledge.

Ensure a high standard of care for all patients with a diagnosis of skin cancer, providing a high standard of psychosocial support for the patient and their family/carers during and after any treatment.



Act as an effective key worker for all patients and their families, providing advice, support and signposting when necessary.



Develop nurse led clinics working in parallel with multidisciplinary team members.



Ensure patients holistic needs are taken into consideration in the decision making process utilising the relevant tools and skills



Utilise highly developed communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations.



Attend weekly multidisciplinary team meetings acting as a keyworker for patients.



Take part in training provision of identified staff groups within defined areas



Support patients, carers and staff during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. breaking bad news or following an unexpected event



Undertake and complete the relevant surgical training to preform nurse led surgical procedures including punch biopsies and curettage and cautery.



Attend the relevant chemotherapy training course to be deemed competent to support and educate the oncology patients within the service.
