What is the Job?




The Commis Chef plays a key role in supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of their section, ensuring all preparation, food production and service are delivered to the highest standards and in line with food-hygiene regulations. This role is ideal for someone who has worked as a Kitchen Porter and commie chef, and is ready to take the next step in their culinary career. You'll be part of a fast-paced kitchen team where you may assist with tasks such as keeping equipment clean and ready for use, while also developing your skills in food preparation and cooking. Full training will be provided across all menus, along with the required food-safety training, helping you build confidence and progress as an aspiring chef. The ability to stay calm under pressure and use your initiative will be key to your success in this role.

About The Role



Your day to day:



Assisting with the general day to day running of their section Follow HACCP and COSHH procedures. Training will be provided Cook Breakfast, Lunch and dinner as per required set standards. Training will be provided for each menu Assist senior chefs with temperature readings are taken on a daily basis and taken accurately Ensure that all kitchen equipment, fixtures and fittings are in good working order and to ensure that no item of equipment is misused. Report any faults to Duty Manager Ensure all cleaning schedules are adhered to and hygiene checked daily. Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming. Upkeep of the equal opportunities policy to ensure that there is a neutral working environment. Participate in any training and personnel exercises designed to improve standards and performance. Work in accordance with standard procedures within each department. Keep staff/work areas tidy, safe and report any hazards, accidents & damages to management and observe all requirements under Health & Safety at Work act (1989).

Accountability




This job involves working in Kitchen and Food & Beverage areas. Hours of work will include mornings, evenings and weekends. Will include assisting other departments wherever necessary and maintaining good working relationships.

What we need from you:



Essential:



Experience within a commis chef role or equivalent experience of working with food in a professional kitchen environment Experience working as Kitchen porter assisting chefs with day-to-day duties for 6 months Good communication and listening skills Ability to work within a Team and also independently

Desirable:



Experience of working in hotel and restaurant kitchen NVQ qualification up to and including level 2 in Food Preparation Hygiene Certificate.
