The Maintenance and Compliance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and development of the hospice's buildings, retail units, and grounds. This role ensures that all premises are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, efficient, functional, and welcoming environment for patients, families, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
The postholder will lead the in-house maintenance team, manage external contractors, and oversee all aspects of statutory and regulatory compliance across a diverse property portfolio. This includes clinical, retail, and office environments, each requiring tailored approaches to maintenance and compliance management.
The Maintenance and Compliance Manager plays a key role in ensuring that all hospice and retail properties operate in line with health, safety, fire, and environmental legislation, maintaining full compliance with regulatory bodies and internal policies. By proactively managing maintenance activities and fostering a culture of safety and accountability, the postholder supports the hospice's mission to deliver outstanding care within a safe, sustainable, and well-maintained estate.
Qualifications
Essential
Health And Safety Qualification or appropriate training

Vocational qualification in a related discipline
Previous Experience in a healthcare sector setting
Knowledge and experience

Strong knowledge and ability to carry out general maintenance works
Previous experience of managing multiple sites
Experience of building management systems and building trades
Good use of IT systems (Microsoft applications, Teams, Word, Excel etc)
