Join our award winning Team here at Down Hall Hotel and Spa. We are proud to have been recently awarded AA Hotel of the Year 2024/2025 in England, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Maintenance Assistant to join our esteemed team.

Down Hall Hotel and Spa is one of England's most established country house hotels, nestled in the beautiful Essex countryside. With 98 bedrooms, a luxury spa, fine dining restaurant, conference facilities, and picturesque grounds, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional experiences for every guest.

This role involves assisting in the maintenance and repair of equipment, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively. The Maintenance Assistant will work closely with supervisors and other team members to uphold high standards of safety and functionality within the facility.

Main Responsibilities:

Carrying out daily maintenance tasks, both reactive and planned.

Conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance checks.

Assisting with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repairs.

Responding promptly to maintenance requests from guests and other departments.

Ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with health and safety regulations.

Supporting the Maintenance Manager and team with larger projects when required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience in a maintenance or general handyman role, ideally within a hotel or hospitality environment.Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Good problem solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.A proactive, flexible attitude with a keen eye for detail.

Strong communication and organisational skills
