Although this is a full time role, we may consider part time hours or a job share for the right candidate.

What can you expect to be doing?

Joining our friendly Estates team, you will support the delivery of our maintenance and repair services within the Taunton Hospice.


As a maintenance assistant, you will provide a confidential, customer focused maintenance service for the hospice properties and equipment, as planned and reactive maintenance requirements occur.


Your day to day work will include:

Reactive maintenance and completing repairs

- e.g. replacing taps, repairs to furniture, unblocking sinks & drains, clearing gutters, adjusting fire doors, re-decoration

Planned maintenance

- e.g. portable appliance testing, emergency light tests, fire panel testing, replacing or cleaning filters within AHU / Air conditioning units, carry out disinfection and flushing of taps and showers

Project work

- assist the maintenance supervisor with enabling works for minor projects e.g. moving furniture, assisting with contractors visits, communicating progress with stakeholders

What will you be good at?

You will:


Recent experience and knowledge of daily building maintenance tasks and ongoing repairs. A working knowledge of health and safety regulations, ensuring all areas are safe for patients, staff, and visitors. Ability to look up, extract and record electronic information A full driving licence and the ability to drive a company vehicle to any of our sites and locations across Somerset as required.
