Job Description

To carry out all work in a safe and efficient manner and bring to the attention of the Supervisors and management any known defect requiring further attention. To liaise with contractors in regards to minor project work. To attend a process of effective communication/team briefing, with supervisors under sphere of responsibility. To communicate with all disciplines in an effective manner using tact and diplomacy in often difficult situations ensuring confidentiality is maintained when appropriate.



To communicate with supervisors to ensure that stores and equipment are kept at the correct levels to provide a quick efficient service. To communicate with ward managers, ward staff and customers any delays in maintenance requests as required to provide a customer focused service. To promote the delivery of safe, quality, value for money Maintenance Services across the Trust. To comply with statutory and mandatory requirements relating to Maintenance services and procedures.



To assist the diagnosis and repair faults in building installations and equipment. To deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others. To assist Maintenance staff of all trades in the repair and maintenance of hospital property and equipment including mechanical, minor electrical and building works. To carry out duties within the building section including painting, labouring, carpentry and building works.



To carry out the collection of data as required e.g. roads & path surveys. To understand and assist the working of the building systems in N.H.S. buildings.



To assist and carry out repairs, maintain and efficiently run plant and equipment. To assist on building planned preventative maintenance system to confirm that all scheduled items are being undertaken n the most efficient and effective manner. To be aware of the building regulations. To carry out any other duties required by management relevant to the post.



To work unsupervised as part of the Maintenance team in an occupied environment and able to understand mental health problems.
