Job Summary
As a Maintenance Joiner you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality carpentry and joinery services across various residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Your primary responsibilities will include the installation, repair, and maintenance of wooden structures, fixtures, and fittings. You will work closely with clients and colleagues to ensure that all tasks are completed to the highest standards, adhering to safety regulations and project specifications. Your expertise in woodworking techniques and attention to detail will be vital in providing exceptional service and contributing to the overall success of our projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to reactive joinery and carpentry repairs at client sites, ensuring minimal disruption to clients and end-users
- Diagnose and repair issues with doors, windows, flooring, partitions, and other timber components
- Carryout routine maintenance and inspections to prevent future problems
- Install, replace, and modify joinery components such as doors, windows, frames and fixtures
- Install new joinery products such as doors, windows, skirting and other timber fixtures ensuring precise fitting and finishing
- Ensure all work complies with relevant building regulations, health & safety standards, and company policies
- Accurately record all work completed, including parts used and time taken
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members to ensure a high level of service
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition and report any repairs needs
- Participate in emergency callouts and on-call duties, providing out-of-hours support for urgent repairs
Key Responsibilities:
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
SVQ Level 3 in Carpentry and Joinery or equivalent qualification (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ)
Certification:
CSCS Card
Experience:
o Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a maintenance or construction environment
Knowledge:
o In-depth understanding of fitting, adjusting, repairing and maintaining various types of doors (internal, external, fire doors) and windows (timber, uPVC)
o Scotland building standards and regulations
o Understanding of different timber and other materials used in joinery, including their properties, treatments and appropriate use
o Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, measuring devices and machinery used in joinery work
Skills:
o Proficiency in carpentry and joinery techniques, including hand and power tool operation.
o Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications
Technology
o Be comfortable with smartphones/tablets for accessing work schedules and communication tools.
o Familiarity with power tools and machinery and their safety features
