Overview of Job Role
We are seeking a Maintenance Manager to join us in the exciting journey of opening of Aston Manor Care Home. This pivotal role requires an individual who can lead and manage all aspects of facilities and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of people skills and strong experience of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week
(5 days per week / Rota will cover Monday - Sunday)
Competitive Pay Rate of
17.50 per hour
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Take ownership of all aspects of facilities management and lead the maintenance team at Aston Manor
Addressing day-to-day maintenance issues, minor repairs, and fixing faults within the care home.
Implementing schedules for preventative maintenance to minimize breakdowns and ensure equipment longevity.
Ensuring the care home meets safety standards and regulations, including fire safety checks, electrical inspections, water checks and other relevant regulations.
Managing third-party contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance.
Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.
Communicating effectively with service users, team members, and management regarding maintenance issues and updates.
Identifying and resolving maintenance problems efficiently and effectively.
Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
Ensure that all identified issues are rectified in a timely manner and accurate records are held complying with internal governance procedures and external regulatory requirements.
Ensure the maintenance of the care home's exterior environment, including keeping any sheds, outbuildings and areas in which waste is stored in a clean and tidy condition.
Carry out gardening work as required.
Ensure that all signage and access routes are clear and visible.
Carry out equipment testing on regular basis including checks related to compliance with fire safety, lights and water safety.
Carry out any duties reasonably required to ensure the smooth operation of Aston Manor.
About You
Demonstrable track record of building maintenance and working knowledge in plumbing, electrical systems, and other relevant trades.
Previous experience in maintenance roles, preferably within Care Homes.
Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, risk management, and regulatory compliance within a care environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a people first approach.
Ability to multitask, prioritise and take ownership of this role with confidence and discretion.
Strong planning, organisational and leadership skills.
Relevant qualifications in facilities management, health and safety, or property management are desirable (e.g., NEBOSH, BIFM).
A clean and full UK driving licence to drive a minibus is essential.
