We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to join our team in Sherborne.
Overall function and description of the job
The Maintenance Manager?has responsibility for?managing the workload of the Maintenance department as well as be expected to carry out reactive and preventive maintenance??
?Main duties:?
Accountable for the day-to-day performance of the maintenance team, working alongside the team delivering results
Developing and implementing maintenance plans
Planning of?maintenance schedules
Direct the maintenance team to ensure all daily tasks and checks are completed and documented
To oversee the daily job list and delegate jobs accordingly
To ensure all works are carried out within budget
To manage external contractors whilst on site
Organise labour within the department and arrange cover/overtime when required.
Take responsibility for the safety of the maintenance department and its employees.
Ensure that all machinery and equipment is properly and safely maintained to agreed standards.
To keep employee records up-to date (including overtime).
Take responsibility for ordering stock (parts, etc.) for the maintenance department.
Identifying and organising training requirements.
Position requirements:
Relevant technical or professional qualifications in maintenance or engineering.
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in maintenance management within a manufacturing or production environment.
Proven track record in overseeing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and process maintenance.
Hands-on experience with general maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and plant/equipment maintenance.
Strong technical understanding for troubleshooting, preventive, and predictive maintenance planning.
Experience in maintenance planning, project management, and controlling budgets/costs.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (COSHH, RIDDOR, etc.) and commitment to ensuring compliance.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; warm, professional, and empathetic approach.
Proactive, innovative, and results-oriented mindset.
Hours of work - 40 per week (Monday to Friday)
