About the Role

We're looking for a skilled and reliable

Maintenance Operative

to join our Facilities Management team at

HMP Altcourse

. You'll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-functioning environment for staff and residents alike.


In this hands-on role, you'll carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the prison site and its facilities remain in excellent working order.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake general maintenance, repairs, and minor installation work across the site. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with schedules. Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests or emergencies. Ensure all work meets relevant health, safety, and security standards. Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and prison staff to maintain a safe and compliant environment.

What We're Looking For:

Proven experience in general maintenance, building services, or a trade (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or mechanical). Strong awareness of health and safety requirements. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Security clearance (or ability to obtain it). High level of interpersonal skills Proactive, systematic approach to tasks. Maximo CAFM experience desirable Ability to work to correct time schedules and deadlines. Team Player
