Llanelli Rural Council is seeking to appoint a Maintenance Operative to join our busy and dedicated maintenance team based at the council's depot in Llanelli.
Our operatives maintain a wide range of council facilities, including rugby, football, cricket, and bowls grounds, children's play areas, community halls, parks, footpaths and cemeteries. The team also undertakes maintenance and repairs to council buildings, carries out inspections and installations of play equipment and manages the upkeep of cemetery grounds, including preparing graves and supporting interments. This role offers variety and provides the opportunity to make a meaningful and visible impact across the local community.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
Has experience using a range of commercial grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
Possesses general building maintenance and repair skills.
Has experience in maintaining outdoor sports facilities - particularly fine turf such as bowls and/or cricket (desirable).
Can work outdoors in all weather conditions and meet the physical demands of the role.
Holds a full UK driving licence (essential).
Works well as part of a team, communicates effectively, and can use initiative with minimal supervision.
Reliability, pride in your work and a commitment to high-quality service are essential.

About the Council
Llanelli Rural Council provides and maintains nine community halls and seven parks used regularly for rugby, football, bowls, and cricket. It also maintains thirteen children's play areas, jointly operates Llanelli District Cemetery with Llanelli Town Council, and manages the Swiss Valley Reservoir in partnership with D?r Cymru / Welsh Water. The Council is also responsible for maintaining 52 miles of public rights of way on behalf of Carmarthenshire County Council.
