We are seeking a hard-working team player with exceptionally high standards, and an interest for fixing problems, to take up the role of Maintenance Operative.
Reporting to the Building Manager, your role is varied and interesting as you will be responsible for ensuring high levels of maintenance throughout the entire building including all cluster apartments, following a maintenance program and addressing emergencies as they happen.
Working between the hours of 9am to 5pm, you will be responsible for:
Responding to maintenance tickets raised by the students and staff.
Diagnosing faults, testing, replacement, repair and maintenance of building fixtures and fittings
General plumbing
General carpentry such as assembling furniture, replacing handles and similar hardware
General painting & decorating
Basic electrical maintenance - replacing bulbs / lighting fixtures etc.
Electrical and alarm testing on a daily basis.
Day to day care and maintenance of gardens and hedging
Managing a building maintenance program of checks and repairs
End of tenancy room checks and overseeing works for any emergency work required during this time
Carry out tasks within specified time limits
Contribute towards the efficient running of the team
Adhere to all organisation policies and procedure

Skills and Qualifications:
Suitable candidates will have:
A qualification relating to a trade or site maintenance
Good experience in this type of job role (ideally minimum 2 years)
Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the environment
Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations applicable to this role
Skills in general DIY and maintenance and general gardening including assessment, installation, repair and maintenance
Experience within a student accommodation/hotel/carehome environment preferred but not essential
To be friendly, approachable and comfortable talking to students
To understand and deliver good customer service
Good attention to detail
Demonstrable time management and project management skills
Hold full driving licence
