We have a new opportunity for a Maintenance Operative at Riverside Care Complex - The role will involve carrying out
skilled DIY and general maintenance work
across all aspects of the Care Home both internal and external.

The role will require general DIY and previous experience in general maintenance including; basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical works, replacement of tiling, painting and decorating. The role also includes compliance checks and paperwork which needs completing daily, weekly and monthly.
The range of tasks will include:
Decoration to bedrooms and communal areas - including preparation of surfaces and painting.
Fixing items such as curtain track, blinds, door furniture, pictures, mirrors, safety signs etc.
Maintenance of bathrooms including minor plumbing such as tap washers, fixings and tiling.
Minor electrical work such as replacing plug sockets and lamp fittings.
Preparation of safe access pathways during cold/icy weather
Assistance with some deep cleaning activities e.g. floor surfaces, kitchen areas and external patio areas.
Perform preventative maintenance where possible and indicate to the Care Home management when there is a maintenance issue which can only be resolved by calling in external specialist contractors.
Compliance paperwork & Health & Safety checks on a scheduled basis.
Fire Awareness training - involving induction of new staff to the team with knowledge of all the fire procedures.
The job holder will be required to work safely and ensure that all risks are assessed prior to commencing a job thereby ensuring the safety of the job holder, residents, visitors, staff and also the protection of furniture, floors and equipment.
The job holder will need to be capable of making decisions and recommendations taking into account the standard of finish required for any given task, the time required to complete the task, the impact on the operation of the Care Home and the cost of materials, tools and equipment.
There will be a requirement to participate in the planning of short-term and medium-term work schedules, and to document actions on various logs and records.
This will also include regular checks and assessments of both individual and communal areas, liaising with management, reception & domestic staff, performing jobs as and when they are required.
The right candidate must have excellent communication skills as they will be dealing with the staff, residents, visitors and external contractors and occasionally regulatory bodies.
This is an existing role, and as such the job holder will be fully trained by the Management Manager, learning from their experience. Flexibility will be important as occasional work needs to be carried out on evenings and weekends, call out charges are applicable.
