Are you a practical, hands-on person who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? We are looking for a friendly and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our team at Bristol Aquarium.

We offer visitors the chance to explore more than 40 naturally-themed displays and spot the thousands of amazing aquatic creatures, including tropical sharks, rays, seahorses, puffer fish, piranhas, and so many more.

Reporting to the General Manager, you'll enjoy a varied role, where no two days are the same from fixing leaky taps or freshening up paintwork, to helping set up our exhibits and seasonal events.

You'll likely have some previous experience in maintenance or a similar hands-on role, with solid DIY skills and an understanding of basic health & safety. Duties/ Responsibilities



To ensure the Aquarium and all parts of the building (internal and external) are presented to the highest standard and the environment is kept safe, clean and welcoming for our customers and staff. To follow the preventative maintenance schedule including daily weekly, monthly and yearly tasks and ensure it is updated and reviewed regularly. To coordinate the maintenance department documents such as purchase orders and invoices. To liaise with contractors, ensuring compliance with Bristol Aquarium's policies and procedures and upholding Health and Safety regulations. To manage the Bristol Aquarium cleaning team, supporting them with their work and resolving issues. To support and assist the Zoological department with projects and maintenance works. To control all health and safety standards within the department and ensure all areas of the Bristol Aquarium are safe for customers and staff. To provide an emergency call out service To use Microsoft Office software to complete reports and update spreadsheets.

Essential



Practical skills in general maintenance, DIY, or trades (e.g., plumbing, painting, carpentry) Someone who takes pride in doing a good job and keeping things looking great. Able to work effectively under own supervision Demonstrate good communicational skills Full manual driving license A team player who's reliable, helpful, and enjoys varied hands-on work. Comfortable working in confined spaces, working at height & able to lift weights up to 25kg
