We are currently recruiting for a

Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician

to join our

Maintenance Team

based at our site in Glenrothes. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Position Summary:



To provide mechanical and electrical maintenance expertise and provide effective, flexible support across the plant. To deputise for the shift lead hand when required.

Essential Functions:



To have a good understanding of safety and environmental legislation and HSE compliance. Handle materials safely, demonstrating the highest regard for the environment and our safety. To adhere to the site Permit to Work systems and follow all stipulated controls. To assess the risks associated with all work carried out and take adequate precautions, including hazard identification and elimination. To carry out the most appropriate and effective repairs to mechanical, electrical, electronic plant in line with engineering standards and legislative requirements. To support the Planned Preventative Maintenance system, ensuring actions are completed in line with requirements. Modification and improvement of machinery and the plant. Contribute to engineering drawings and documentation husbandry, ensuring they are kept up to date and in compliance with appropriate standards and legislation. To support process improvements and be receptive to change to develop working practices within the Engineering/Maintenance team. Supervision of trainees and contractors. To maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness and presentation and maintain a high standard of housekeeping within all working areas. Carry out shift hand-overs as appropriate and act as deputy for lead hand when not available.

Additional Responsibilities:



This position requires the job holder to possess excellent mechanical and electrical maintenance skills. The job holder must have the ability to operate on their own initiative but also contribute as a team member working with Maintenance Technicians both electrical and mechanical. There is an expectation that some overtime will be expected of the position holder.

Education



Minimum academic qualification of time served apprenticeship, ONC, HNC preferred. Proof will be required.

Experience



Must have time served experience in the discipline. Proof will be required Experience in the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. Proof will be required Experience in Cable/ Fibre Optic Industry highly desirable

Skills



Ability to apply safe systems of work (Lock off/isolation). Proficient in the use of computer-based systems, specifically in recording fault information, task times and parts usage. Ability to use fault finding and diagnostic techniques. Ability to read and amend technical drawings as required. Knowledge and experience of welding/burning, machining, pipe work and fitting. Understanding and experience of routine 'preventative' maintenance. Ability to demonstrate a 'high' level of health, safety and environmental culture. A self-motivated drive to deliver improvements across the manufacturing process and environmental systems. A high level of experience working with Permits to Work, risk assessments and safe working procedures. Demonstrated experience of working alone and in a team. Awareness and understanding of Condition Based Monitoring. Undertaken additional responsibilities on top of Technician role. Operating in a fast-paced environment to challenging deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organisational and planning skills. Strong MS Office. Excellent problem solver. Can demonstrate the ability to prioritise and multitask whilst retaining attention to detail and accuracy. Self-motivated and flexible.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:



Fast paced factory environment. Manufacturing environment.
This role requires the job holder to work shifts.

12 hours per shift - Dayshift - 7am - 7pm/ Nightshift - 7pm - 7am 3 week rotating shift basis as follows: -
Week 1 - Monday and Tuesday Dayshift/ Thursday and Friday Nightshift

Week 2 - Wednesday - Friday Dayshift

Week 3 - Monday - Wednesday Nightshift

Salary:



38,416 plus 7,683 shift allowance per annum.
