Overview

The Maintenance Engineer (Handyman) is responsible for ensuring the hotel's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards. This role combines technical know?how with practical handyman skills to deliver a safe, comfortable, and well?presented environment for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance:

Carry out routine repairs and preventive maintenance across guest rooms, public areas, and back?of?house facilities.

Handyman Duties:

Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks as required.

Guest Support:

Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by guests or staff, ensuring minimal disruption.

Safety & Compliance:

Monitor and maintain health & safety standards, including fire safety systems, emergency lighting, and equipment checks.

Record Keeping:

Maintain logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and completed work.

Collaboration:

Work closely with housekeeping, front desk, and F&B teams to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Emergency Response:

Act as first responder for urgent maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, power outages).
Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in maintenance, engineering, or handyman roles (hospitality experience preferred). Practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and general repairs. Strong problem?solving skills and ability to work independently. Good communication skills with a customer?focused approach. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and respond to emergencies.
