Role Description
As the sole Maintenance Technician on site, you will provide comprehensive electrical and mechanical maintenance support across the manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for maximising equipment uptime, delivering planned preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and driving continuous improvements in reliability and safety.
This role suits a proactive, hands-on engineer who is comfortable working independently and managing both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
Take overall responsibility for site maintenance performance, availability, and reliability
Deliver and manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
Diagnose, fault-find, and repair mechanical and electrical faults
Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
Install, modify, and commission machinery and equipment as required
Liaise closely with production teams to plan maintenance around operations
Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and KPI data
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Manage contractor activities including permits to work, inductions, and on-site supervision
Control inspection, servicing, and calibration schedules in line with statutory requirements
Identify improvement opportunities and recommend equipment or process enhancements
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
Ability to work independently as the sole maintenance technician on site
Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, or Multi-Skilled Engineering)
Good organisational, communication, and time-management skills
Strong understanding of health and safety in an industrial setting
Desirable:
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems
Experience managing PPM schedules & KPI metrics
Previous experience coordinating or supervising external contractors

Must be within commuting distance to Widnes
Job Type:
Full-time, following an initial 12-week trial period
Working hours:
Monday to Thursday: 7:30 - 17:00, Friday 07:30 - 11:30
A part-time role can be discussed if preferred
